LAMY KONO

About
LAMY kōno redefines the modern thinking tool by blending focused digital functionality with tangible physical interaction to enhance productivity. BatchOne partnered with LAMY to bring this innovative vision from its in-house innovation studio, NEO66, to life, serving as the key development partner for this first product launched outside LAMY's classic writing instrument market.
We guided the project from an initial product vision into a refined, manufacturable design. The result is an innovative "Thinking Tool" with smart timer functions designed to create focused workspaces and boost productivity. The core function of kōno is to help users block out digital distractions and support concentrated, mindful work by promoting regular breaks. When connected to a Mac, it facilitates this shift between deep work and necessary pauses. This device represents LAMY's evolution into creating tools that make thoughts visible, tangible, and communicable, supporting a more interactive and intelligent daily routine.
To achieve this, BatchOne and NEO66 focused on creating a sophisticated user experience that honors LAMY's legacy of high-quality physical products. We employed a meticulous iterative design and prototyping process to perfect the ergonomics, material feel, and technical integration of this hybrid tool. This allowed us to validate the product's form, function, and emotional appeal before finalizing the engineering. We then led the product through the critical Design for Manufacturing (DfM) phase, ensuring LAMY's renowned quality standards could be met efficiently in production.
Once the working prototype was completed, LAMY & NEO66 began marketing the kōno project through a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, tripling the initial funding goal.
